Phrases and 1pg Script

"Way to go meat bags!"- Over heard this at a volleyball game where the theme was zombies.
"Now thats some risky business."- One of my friends said this at a Halloween party concerning the many ridiculous costumes people wear these days.
"Its not rocket science, if you want something you initiate it." A moms advice to her kid in the grocery store.
"God is showing off tonight"- Heard this when someone mentioned how pretty the sunset was.
"She's very cryptic in her texting."- My sister said this to my mom because of over-usage of different emoticons while texting.

1 Page script.

A girl is sitting in the library. Its late at night and she is the only one there. Her phone buzzes. and the text she reads says:
"I don't know what you should do, this is a big decision. All you can do is weigh out the good and bad" (the text is from her mother)

She clicks the top of her phone so it goes to screen saver.
She continuously types away looking up plane tickets, different colleges, and different job options.
She continues to work on her homework.. Showing she is in upper level classes, working on different biology papers, math problems implying she may be a med student after graduation.
A boy sits down in the desk next to her.
Boy: "Hello"
Girl: She smiles shyly and gives him a nod trying to avoid any conversation.
The girl continues on her computer, and goes on to Facebook. Her eyes focus on a guys name that says he is now engaged. Her face becomes blank and sadness overwhelms her.
the boy again becomes a part of her personal space.
Boy: "Are you okay? You look like you could talk to someone."
Girl: "Im fine, why would you say that?"
Boy: "If there is anything I know, its how to read a persons face"
GIrl: "Well you read me wrong."
Boy: "Well whatever it is, whatever you are trying to figure out, all I can say is that its not rocket science. If there is something you want in life, you initiate it. No one else can."
Girl: "Thanks….I guess"

The girl packs up her stuff feeling uncomfortable from the short conversation with this stranger, yet she oddly feels encouraged and grateful for the unsolicited advice. She now knows what she should do.

Documentary Subjects

I thought my sister sarah would be an interesting doc subject. She was homeschooled most her life, and when she went to school the first time it was when she was a freshman in high school. She has a lot of funny memories and experiences through out her schooling experience. She mostly would be successful as a doc subject because she is an entertaining person and would be interesting on film.

I thought my brother-in-law Nick Hoff would make an interesting doc subject. He graduated with a business degree from IU, but now is a comedian. He's funny and comfortable performing so that always is helpful when interviewing someone.

Kelly Graff (who is someone I do not know personally, but lives in the local area)  is an executive chef at a small quaint restaurant in Goshen, Indiana called Kelly Jae's. What makes her an interesting documentary subject is the path she has taken for her one of a kind restaurant in northern Indiana. She incorporates farm-to-table dining which means she only uses the freshest ingredients. This is interesting because mostly when people think of midwest restaurants "greasy spoon" places probably pops into their head, and the idea of using frozen food. Instead, Graff takes advantage of the abundant farms in the areas and uses to create a great dining experience. She has widely traveled the world which she incorporates into her menu at Kelly Jae's in Goshen.

SJRMC photos

Here I took a few photos of the finale scene. It was really cool to see everyone working hard to make this scene work well and get as many good shots as we could. It was a good experience to have as a new media student.
